Please Pray for Our Guys

Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

This is an e-mail we received last night about an incident near Micah:

Good evening,

I wanted to report to you all a disturbing incident that just happened at Micah. Wilmer and Arle have been working out at Villa Linda Miller with Santiago to finish building the VLM clinic. They were coming home at 6:00 pm, walking up the hill between the Timothy House and the Micah House. They were stopped by a police pickup with two machine gun-toting policemen. The officers roughly hand-cuffed them both and placed them in the back of the pickup. As they were driven away, they saw the little kids that live by our apartment building and shouted at them. Thankfully, one of those little boys alerted us at Micah what was happening.

Roger and I got into the van, and planned to drive up the hill into the next neighborhood over, where the closest police station is. As we drove up into the dangerous part of our neighborhood, we noticed a police pickup parked by some tall weeds with its lights off. We pulled up by it, and found Arle in the back. When we walked up, both officers quickly got out of the backseat, where they had Wilmer. Roger and I sweet-talked the officers for several minutes, explaining about the Micah Project and assuring them that Wilmer and Arle are good boys. I had the birth certificates of both boys with me and proved that way that they are a part of the project. Finally, the officers got in their pickup and drove off.

Wilmer was crying and too terrorized to explain to us what happened. Arle said that the police were threatening them, pushing them around, and were trying to steal Wilmer's cellphone.

One of the hardest things about living in Honduras is that their is no recourse for justice. When it is the police that are assaulting innocent people, who do you report that to? Most people in our neighborhood believe that a police death squad was behind the five murders in the neighborhood last week. If we had not happened upon Arle and Wilmer, we could have very well found their bodies in those tall weeds where the officers had stopped. We praise God that He protected these boys tonight. At the same time, we cry out for justice. These boys should not have to be afraid of the people that are paid to protect them.

I have to say that I wish we could fast forward nine months and move into Micah 2.0 tomorrow!

Please keep our precious boys and courageous staff in your daily prayers.

Su hermano en Cristo,

Michael

I have new respect for the Lord´s prayer lately. Especially forgiving others, and asking for our daily bread. And protection from evil. On an unrelated note, there´s a spelling error in the title, Pay for our boys! I know we need to pay but I think you meant to say Pray.

Wow! that's so scary. Praise God that He sent protection for these boys! We'll definitely be praying for this situation.
